NEU MUSEUM

Use : CULTURAL
Location : WIEN ( AUSTRIA )
Year : 2016
Client : NEU MUSEUM WIEN

As one of the most renowned cultural institution in Austria the Wien Museum is configured as a metropolitan universal museum focused on the history of the city, art and everyday life. Its comprehensive, boundary-transcending scope is to provide to both, inhabitants and guests, a key to the city. We aim to extend the museum space to the park inviting the city to come in getting closer to the people and creating a more attractive and dynamic environment. Our proposal is to create a new pavilion in the park, growing from the ground as an interpretation of the place, aligned with the existing axis, roads and building edges and located just in front of the existing museum, to complete the original urban plan of the square enhancing specially the value of the Karlskirche axis. This pavilion will host a new entrance to the museum and a series of accessory uses that could be related more with the public, the park and the city such as the shop, the cafeteria, information point and the new Wien room opened to special views over Karlsplatz.
