The building representing Madrid at Shanghai Expo consists in an independent built block of 40 meters of length by 15 meters, with a height of 19.00 meters that contains exhibition program in four levels. The footprint of the building occupies about the 50% of the lot, liberating in the south public space that will be used the access to the building. The skin that provides the envelope and the climate control will be formed by a combination of Bamboo and glass windows in second skin on the south façade, and a double curtain wall in the North façade. As a result of solar and visual considerations, the building is wrapped in a continuous lattice with an accordion system of openings made with bamboo panels. In the exterior, each level has a deep terrace of 1.50m, with 45cm balconies in the West and East façades. These terraces enable the building to ventilate and have shadows in hot summer and also to be opened to receive sun in winter. Terraces are built with a light steel structure of support that it is also used to fix bamboo pavement.
