The new Kraftwerk will have a notable presence in Wedel’s profile. This is a great opportunity to become an urban reference for the profile of the banks of the Elba and for the city. In this sense, our proposal is to achieve a unified ordered image of the plant, with a high expressive value, and a high capacity for dialogue with the immediate natural environment, especially with the massive growth of this environment enhanced by our intervention in the landscape, a celebration of the quiet presence of the plant in relation to the new planning of the Elba riverside. We propose to wrap the volume with a skin as efficient as possible in terms of economy, maintenance, and sustainability. For this purpose we have chosen a textile skin, a thin film with a high degree of permeability to permit illumination and ventilation of the interior spaces of the plant where necessary. This veil will give to the formal solution a large expressive potential. The characteristics of this textile finishing guarantee its performance in terms of safety and durability.
