The project consists in the design of a 4* Hotel located in the center of Barcelona with a program including a total of 102 rooms plus underground car park. Its implantation and design respond to a series of operations and interactions of sustainable requirements. One of the most outstanding character of the project is its cultural sustainability. Indeed, given its location in a noble part of the district designed by Cerdà known as L’Eixample, near to the Casa de Les Punxes, the current existing facade is preserved and rehabilitated as part of the so-called “arquitectura de replé” built in Barcelona before 1932. Also, another factor that the project takes into account is the environmental sustainability. As Cerdà designed the interior of the blocks (so-called Manzana) of L’Eixample, the patio like a garden thanks to its green intervention will be reminiscent of the spirit of a city with green in the interiors of the blocks. Concerned about the energy sustainability, especially about the energy consumption problems of large cities, the project aims at self-sufficiency thanks to the integration of sustainable energy and requirements.
