MUSEO CASA DE LES PUNXES

Use : COMMERCIAL / CULTURAL
Location : BARCELONA ( SPAIN )
Year : 2016
Client : TEXNA

Our goal for the restoration and transformation into a museum of the “Casa Terradas” is to enhance the work of the modernist architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. On the ground floor, after removing dividing walls and false ceilings, the resulting open space revalued the original columns that the architect introduced to replace the load-bearing walls, one of the most outstanding contributions of the time. Interventions were planned on the ground floor, the main floor and the roof terrace. One of the main changes has been the incorporation of an elevator that will connect these three floors that will be part of the new museum. On the main floor a connection between the original apartments was created to permit a circuit and the accesibility from the new lift. On the rooftop are located the six towers “punxes” in catalan that gives the name to the building. The biggest corner tower has been made accesible from the rooftop and its three levels connected to the end of the museum circuit allowing spectacular views over Barcelona.
