BOTAFOC TERMINAL

Use : TRANSPORTATION
Location : EIVISSA ( SPAIN )
Year : 2016
Client : AUTORIDAD PORTUARIA DE BALEARES

The obligatory growth of the port infrastructure in the illa Grossa of Ibiza has given live to a new morphology of this island defined in its surface by 50% of concrete surface and another 50% of native semi-arid landscape. Our proposal aims defining strategies to compensate areas in favor of the autochthonous ecosystem, allowing a gradual colonization of the local vegetation in some areas of circulation and parking but mainly on the deck surface of the proposed Port Terminal. The opportunity given by the Port Authority to convert the roof into a walkable and partially landscaped garden leads us to propose a low maintenance cost landscaping solution that is nourished with native flora and that mimics the local landscape. The constructive solution is made on the basis of a package of gravels of low density and little thickness, limiting the own weight of the solution and avoiding the oversizing of the structure.
