GABRIEL FERRATER LIBRARY

Use : CULTURAL
Location : SANT CUGAT DEL VALLÉS ( SPAIN )
Year : 2018
Client : AJUNTAMENT DE SANT CUGAT

The proposal for the new Central Library of Sant Cugat del Vallès is based on the basis of reducing the environmental impact on the existing territory, lowering the footprint of the building and consequently articulating a compact organization of uses of the equipment that improves both its operation, as well as the mobility of the user in space and above all his energetic behavior. The volume is completed by defragmentation of its perimeter, lower on the ground floor and higher on first floor, in order to get some better alignments with visuals to the Monastery, the urban plot and a better integration of the facade plans in the natural environment of the Barnils Park. These different openings determine the different accesses, evacuation exits and terraces related to the variety of uses the new equipment allows.
