Year : 2016
Client : C.R.A. GUIDONIA

Guidonia Montecelio is a 88,435 inhabitants district belonging to the metropolitan city of Roma, the second non-capital italian district for inhabitants. Guidonia sustains a huge landfill, a cement plant, the Chimeco, major quarries of calcareous rocks (travertino), a heavy traffic, The BASF plant, bad air quality which cause a high level of respiratory problems and tumors. On the other hand, there is no trace of either green urban or natural spaces. They represent 80 hectares in 8100 hectares of communal territory, less than 1 per cent, a negative record! There is no doubt that local very special naturalistic interest comes from the geological characteristics of the area. Time has come to change direction and start thinking in a different way to exploit the territory and stop wasting the non-renewable resources. A set of proposals and recommendations has emerged to de-pollute the major contaminated areas and their rehabilitation as the Manifest for the future.
